1) Opponent is playing bad cards

2) Opponent is playing a deck that cant beat anything but your deck (or so it seems)

3) Losing an important win-and-in.

4) Losing to an opponent who is making a lot of mistakes.

5) Getting flooded/screwed

1) Opponent is playing bad cards.

Well, first of all if they are so bad, why are you losing to them? I think a lot of players (my included) have a tendency to dismiss cards beforehand without trying them. Also the game is more fun if various strategies are viable and tried.

One type of card that people dont like to lose to are counterspells. One reason is that they are frankly not great in limited. Another resaon is that it feels like your opponent is smugly outplying you when he casts them. That last bit is probably all in my head, but they generate this feeling that you are being played.

Yeah, sometimes though, you lose to some real stinkers, but the best you can do is just to laugh it off. I remember losing to Darksteel Relic once (Look that card up if you want to get a good laugh) It enabled glint hawk turn 1 and i got burned out after stabilizing taking a lot of damage from early glint hawk-beats.

Lastly, and this is going to be something of a theme here, maybe your opponent just had a bad draft, even a trainwreck. That means they have to play these cards as 20-23rd cards.

2) Opponent is playing a deck that can only beat yours.

This could be when youre playing a midrange deck that has early plays to survive against the aggressive decks and then you meat a deck with only slow durdly cards that just overpowers you in the late game.

Well, first of all, your opp may have had a trainwreck again and had to go allin on this strategy.

Also if this is a complaint you have games 2 and 3 your opp may have done extensive sideboarding to beat your deck.

3) Losing an important win-and-in

This could be a winandin for top8, a finals in a ptq, etc.

The reason this stings is that you were so close and only had to win one more match. This is actually just a superficial argument. It doesnt add any value at all to think like this. Try to think it in a positive light. The fact that you got so close means you got to play more magic that if you had scrubbed out 0-2. (And hopefully you got some consolationprizes as well and you almost never do when you go 0-2-drop-burgers)

4) Losing to an opponent who is making a lot of mistakes.

Mistakes comes in 2 forms, those who benefit you and those who benefit the opponent (they are rare but they exist)

The first types are easy to ignore, they are good for you in the long run. There basically id no downside. Also dont assume that just because your opponent is making a mistake he is bad. All players make mistakes.

Sometimes the opponent makes a mistake that benefits them. Let me give you an example of a mistake i made recently that actually won me the game.

Opponent had an empty board and i had an 0/3 Ixaland Diviner. I cast Burning suns avatar just to get on the board. I killed my own 0/3 since i didnt know you could decline to shoot for 3. Opponent kills my avatar later but not before he falls to 2 life. he then topdecks a Brazen buccaners which explores and misses (hits a land). Now if i had a 0/3 diviner still in play, there would be no point for my opponent to attack. But since i dont have it in pay he attacks me for 2, I then topdeck my own brazen buccaners and misses on explore, but i get to attack my opponent from 2 to 0 and win the game.

Well, my opponent might have been a little tilted afterwards. This one is best combated by seeing the humor in it. Also, these kind of mistakes that benefits the owners are very rare.

5 Getting Flooded/Screwed

These are very frustrating sometimes but also common. All players who play enough volumes experience these. You just have to accept them or stop playing. Magic is not chess, there is a random element, and if you are planning on making a magic career, you will play enough games to experience these many many times. Just see the humour in them.

Laboratory Maniac is the kind of card that you SHOULDNT be able to win with in limited, but in Innistrad Limited, everything seems to be possible.
